High Tech Environmental Science and Sustainability Academy Participate in Earth Day Celebration at the Dierdre Imus Environmental Center®

(Hackensack, NJ–April 17, 2019) Dr. Shelly Witham and her students from the Environmental Science and Sustainability Academy of High Tech accepted an invitation to participate in the Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center® Earth Day 2019 celebration at Hackensack University Medical Center, announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Principal of High Tech High School.

Seven students participated in the Earth Day festivities: Bayonne residents Kaitlyn Kirschner, a senior, and Doran Traineau, a junior; Rachel Stern, a junior from Guttenberg; Jersey City residents Elena Gurczeski and Ivonne Ovalles, both juniors; and Kearny residents Sylvia Goldfond, a senior, and Alfonse Sessa III, a sophomore.

During the Earth Day celebration, members of the hospital community visited the students from the Environmental Science and Sustainability Academy’s display of beautiful flowers, created from Hackensack University Medical Center sterilization wrap. Other Earth Day participants included the Hackensack University Medical Center’s beekeeper, who brought an observation hive and samples of the first spring harvest of Hackensack Honey, and an amazing artwork, Enchanted Exhibit, by Terri Shank of Beacon Converters.
