(North Bergen, NJ—June 1, 2016) High Tech High School held its first induction ceremony for the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA), announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Principal of High Tech High School.
Surrounded by family, friends and peers, the NHSDA recognized eight dance majors for their artistic merits, leadership in dance, and academic achievements (the latter of which a trio of candles symbolizes). Thus, the following dance majors have the honor of entering the first class of High Tech High School’s NHSDA: Bayonne residents Kayla Alvarez, Mikaela Rada, and Ivana Rodriguez; Abigail Ambrosio and Kala Fogg of Jersey City; Secaucus residents Raechelle Manalo and Vicky Trieu; and Michelle Nunez-Garcia of West New York.
“These young women represent some of the most hardworking, creative, and talented students in High Tech,” declares veteran dance instructor Trista DeFilippis, Head of the High Tech Dance Department. “It’s nice to have an additional way to reward their successes. I’m very proud of their accomplishments.”
NHSDA, a very popular program of the National Dance Education Organization, recognizes outstanding students studying dance in public or private schools in K-12 education, dance studios, cultural and community centers, performing arts groups, and post-secondary education. NHSDA fosters an appreciation for dance as a true art form, worthy of recognition and prestige.
