(New York, NY—June 10, 2015) The High Tech French Honor Society (FHS) held their annual induction ceremony in the Resource Center of the North Hudson Center, announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Director of High Tech High School.
The sophomores inducted into FHS include Bayonne residents Amanda Chang, Kara Neal, Sophia Velasquez, and Olivia Viteznik; Mingyu Zhao of Harrison; Jersey City residents Nicole Albornoz, Vibha Chauhan, and Mya Veras; Rachel Spillane of Kearny; North Bergen residents Kiara Espinosa, Michelle Majano, and Yailin Torres; Vicky Trieu of Secaucus; Union City resident Victoria Herrera; and Annabelle Familia of West New York.
Additionally, FHS held elections. Tony Houwayek of Union City will serve as President and Alessandra Carreno-Novoa of West New York will become Vice President. Amy Suchodolski of Jersey City will serve as editor for the French Newsletter published every marking period and Jillian Wiadzionek of Bayonne will become assistant editor. During the ceremony, the seniors in FHS made crêpes for everyone. They also received their FHS chords and tassels for graduation.
The French Honor Society and French Club seek to spread French culture throughout High Tech High School. Crêpe sales and movie nights serve as two examples of the many activities that FHS and the French Club have done to help to express the beauty of French culture to High Tech.
