(New York, NY—June 12, 2015) High Tech High School’s Performing Arts Liaison and Director Scott Killian has produced an original score for an upcoming dance piece, announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Director of High Tech High School.
Killian’s original score, on which he worked during the winter and spring, will be featured in ZviDance’s Escher/Bacon/Rothko, which has its world premiere/opening night benefit on Wednesday, June 24th, and runs for a limited engagement at New York Live Arts, 219 West 19th Street, from June 24th– 27th. Performances take place on Wednesday-Friday at 7:30pm and Saturday at 2:00pm and 7:30pm. To purchase tickets, please call New York Live Arts’ Ticket Services, (212) 924-0077, or visit the website http://newyorklivearts.org/event/zvi_dance_2015.
Set in three parts, Escher/Bacon/Rothko takes its inspiration from the work of M.C. Escher, Francis Bacon, and Mark Rothko. Virtuosic in form and versatile in style, Zvi Gotheiner’s stirring choreography pulsates with each artist’s startling notion of modernity. The cast includes Chelsea Ainsworth, Todd Allen, Alex Beigelson, Kuan Hui Chew, Alison Clancy, Derek Ege, Samantha Harvey, David Nosworthy, Ying Ying Shiau, and Robert M. Valdez Jr.
“As an improvisational pianist, I think in orchestral ways,” declares Killian, whose original work has been featured in dance and theater over the years.
High Tech’s Performing Arts Program encompasses the disciplines of dance, drama, musical theater, vocal and instrumental music, audio technology, and TV production.
