Only two weeks after our successful run of Cabaret (Original, 1966), High Tech Theatre Arts improvisers performed in our annual Improv show, consisting of live improvisation performance games created with audience participation. The audience picked places and relationships, gave quotes from movies to be integrated with the games, and received hilarious advice for real-life problems.
The show's format was a competition between the Senior Yes, And team led by Emilee Rosalsky, and the Junior Seventeen team led by Nicole Nina, and hosted by Senior Frankie Saputo. The other Yes, And performers were Seniors Nicholas Byers, Rapha Dieng, Claire Volcimus, Makaela Garcia, Sara Martinez, Ny’ere Riley, Alex Nunez, and Jacquelynne Leiras, Sophomores Aidan Chapas, Andrew Morgado and Ariel Washington, and Freshmen Cora Hobson, Yariliz Tapia, Simone Pittmas and Ameri Szczepanski. The other Seventeen performers were Juniors Eileen Berger, Abigail Bhikam, Cassandra Booker, Burch, Mason Castillo, Chantal Gomes, Emile La Morte, and Shalma Lopez. Brianna Lutin, Olivia Marum, Kichi McNulty, Jade Ortega and Isabella Rodriguez, Sophomore Jillian Vega and Freshman Anthony Wenzel..
The improvisers won the audience's heart by performing games such as Freeze Tag, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Movie Review, Taxi, Director Styles, Dubbing, Sportscasters, Three Scenes and Scenes from a Hat. It was a tough competition, each team winning the audience's applause during the various games, but in the end, the Senior won the Best Improvisation Team award, fair and square.
Ms. Shields is extremely proud of her extraordinary creative improvisers as well as the technical crew of the evening; student lighting, and sound technicians, Mickey Carpio and Megan Collado, Krystal Mack, and Danny Paternino under the guidance of our Union Stage Technicians Mo Wade and Gennaro Ilaria, and technical director Jeremy Falzone.
