(Secaucus, NJ––April 22, 2021) High Tech juniors Maialen Abio, Isabella Delgado, Brogan Donston, Jailin Garcia, Jovy Rose Mariano, and Dylan Nally are the most recent students to be inducted into the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA), announced Dr. Joseph Giammarella, Principal of High Tech High School.
The NHDSA is part of the National Dance Education Organization, which “recognizes outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in students studying dance” in a variety of educational dance settings, including K–12 schools. Students are inducted based on a variety of factors such as grade point average (GPA), participation in dance performances and workshops, as well as community service.
These new inductees will follow in the footsteps of outgoing NHSDA seniors Jennifer Fuehrer, Emily Kelly, Isabella Pliskin, Lucy Rieder, and Martha Silva. Two additional seniors, Isabel Dadulla and Nicolette Zika, have received special recognition for academic achievement. All members will don cords of recognition with their graduation caps and gowns, representing their membership of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts.
The inductees from the class of 2021 and 2022 represent a tradition of excellence in dance education at HTHS established and maintained by veteran dance arts instructor Trista DeFilippis, who has consistently supported her students and provided opportunities for NHSDA membership throughout her tenure.
