(Secaucus, NJ––July 27, 2021) Lauralie Mufute––who goes by the stage name Lauralie––released her first musical single, “Bully,” earlier this month, announced Ms. Kathy Young, Principal of High Tech High School.
A musical theater major in the Performing Arts Academy, Lauralie began singing at 8-years old but did not start writing and producing her own work until the transition to remote learning due to COVID-19. Still, her musical pedigree has been cultivated over several years. In addition to being a musical theater student at HTHS, Lauralie has also studied at NextStep Broadway and TADA! Youth Theatre in New York City. Her most recent solo performance was at the Grace4Grace fundraiser at Grace Church in Jersey City, and she hopes to perform during this fall’s All About Downtown street festival, also in Jersey City.
Lauralie credits her family with providing the support she needs to balance the demands of her artistic and academic aspirations. In the future, she is planning to attend a four-year college where she hopes to explore a career in the entertainment industry, either on- or off-stage.
The single, which features artwork from fellow HTHS Arts student Darius Rush, is stated to be about “someone playing the victim while they are the ones victimizing others,” can be streamed at Lauralie’s fan page: https://fanlink.to/Lauralie.
