High Tech High School's Environmental Science department recently underscored its dedication to immersive learning experiences through a meticulously planned field trip to the NHSA Plant for its junior students, led by esteemed educators Shelly Witham and Carmela Schlitzer, and supported by NHSA Commissioner Margarita Guzman. This educational journey allowed 26 eager students to engage directly with sustainable infrastructure and wastewater treatment processes, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. The trip, enriched with interactive sessions and detailed presentations by the NHSA staff, offered students a comprehensive view of the environmental challenges and solutions in the context of wastewater management. Their exploration of the sewer treatment processes and the management of Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs) provided invaluable insights into the complexities of environmental sustainability. The entire experience was captured in a video edited by Madison Chambers, a senior from the Audio Visual Production department, showcasing the students' active engagement and the school's commitment to fostering the next generation of environmental leaders.
