Mrs. Schlitzer’s Urban Ecology juniors from the Environmental Science Academy explored New York City on a field trip to the High Line and Little Island. Students experienced firsthand the importance of green space in an urban setting, observing how natural landscapes are woven into the city environment. Along the High Line, they answered questions about the different landscapes, while at Little Island they took part in an ecological scavenger hunt connecting classroom learning to real-world urban ecology.
